Talamone is a town in southern Tuscany (Italy). Located on the Monte Argentario, in the Tuscan Maremma, it is a frazione of the comune (municipality) of Orbetello.
A flourishing city under the Etruscans, Talamone was the seat of the famous Roman victory over the Celts. It was later destroyed by Sulla for the support given to his rival Caius Marius.
As well as Orbetello, Talamon disappears from history in the early Middle Ages, and was under local seigniors (Aldobrandeschi, Siena, Florence) until, in 1557, it became part of the Spanish puppet State of Presidi. It's born in this city Bartolomeo Peretti (1504-1544) known as Meo Corso, the family to originate from Vivariu (Corsica island). This great seafarer was admiral pope fleet.
Later it was the seat of a famous episode of the Giuseppe Garibaldi's Mille expedition, during which his militia stopped in the city to resupply of water and weapons.
In the James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, a close ally of James Bond by the name of René Mathis lives in Talamone. James Bond himself travels to Talamone to convince René to follow him to Bolivia.
